Gone Fishin'
This past week the kids and I went up to visit my parents in St. George, Utah. We went out to eat, shopping, visiting my nephew DJ and his beautiful wife Elise and their adorable children...way cute! But the highlight of our trip was our fishing trip to Enterprise Reservoir. Justin has been dying to go fishing for awhile now. So he was the one to get everyone poles ready to fish, with the help of his grandpa of course. I felt sorry for my dad...just when he was about to throw his line into the water, either Carli or Cody needed help with their pole. But he was a trooper in being patient untangling lines and baiting hooks. For some reason it became my job to hold onto the fish while Justin yanked out the hook in its mouth and then I had to put the fish on a rope line in the water. Gross! Everyone had fun tho...well except Brooke as you can see, she slept the majority of the time sleeping in the excursion. Ugh! teenagers!!! I tried several times trying to get her out of the car to come fish, but she kept sleeping. Finally I had enough of it and yanked open the car door and told her if she didn't get out and fish right this moment she was going to have to pay me the $12 dollars I spent on her fishing license. So out she climbs, yawning as she is casting her line into the water (see pic above). After a few minutes she not only catches a fish, but the biggest fish! Then as the fish is still on her line, she hands the fishing pole back to me and says she is going back to sleep. Did I already say Ugh! teenagers!!? However the other kids had a lot of fun fishing. Carli was the first one to catch a fish...she was so very excited. Justin ran over to help her with it and in all of the excitement, the fish managed to wiggle out of Justin's hand and made a swift escape back to its home in the water. And the first one to catch their limit? Me! Surprised? Me too! It seemed that as soon as I cast my line out in the water I was reeling them in. I had a blast! I think Cody was even more excited then me to get my limit, because as soon as I left my fishing spot, he took over and was reeling them in too. We must have hit a school of them! This would have been a perfect day if Lonney would have been able to be there with us, but he had to stay home and work...poor guy! One of these days we are just going to have to kidnap him to go with us.

Okay, so what I want to know is.... did Justin hook anyone? JK
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a blast.
Cute Brooke, you gotta love her!!
That sounds like a ton of fun. My kids haven't been fishing yet this year! In Brookes defense...that was awfully early to wake up!
ReplyDeleteSooo fun! Joseph and I love fishing and that's one place we've never been. It's not too far from Panaca. Maybe we'll have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteFun! This is too ironic-- we went fishing at Enterprise Res a few weeks ago and Tess spent the entire time sleeping in our Tahoe. Of course, she's a NEWBORN! Come on, Brooke! :) (DJ is totally jealous that you guys caught so many, by the way.)
