Readers

I love to read, especially when someone has given a good recommendation on a book they have previously read. I am acquiring quite a collection of books, a library as Lonney puts it. It's not a library, however if we were to build another house, I guarantee you that we will have a library in it. Most books I have kept, some I have given away that I knew I wouldn't want my kids to read. I owe this love of reading to my Dad. All growing up, he always was in a middle of a book. I have taken my love for reading and tried to pass it on to my kids as well. When they were little I set the rule that they could have a bed lamp when they could read. Then if they were reading, they could stay up an extra hour at bedtime. It worked! They are readers too, which I just love. Justin is my speed reader and is done with books in no time flat. Cody can disappear for days with a good book. Brooke has finally come around to liking to read, which I kinda worried about her not catching the reading fever we were all suffering from. Carli has always liked to read especially if it is reading mystery themed books. Have I mentioned I love to read? I have neglected my blog because of this book...

I had been hearing the buzz on these books and decided to finally take the plunge and I went out and bought the first book. I couldn't put it down, in fact I had it read within a day. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second book and thanks to my niece Amber, I am almost done reading this...
I am really bummed that it will be a few months to get the 3rd book in this series. I can't wait to read...

I have put off reading books for awhile, because it is like an addiction to me, I can't put the darn book down and I tend to not pay close attention when the kids ask for things because as they start to leave all excited and happy I have to put the book down and ask them to repeat what I had just agreed to. Lonney does like that I will tickle his back as I'm reading to compensate for my lamp being on til 1 0r 2 in the morning. Let me tell you, the things he says in his sleep are hilarious and he usually wakes up because I am laughing. I do have one particular story to tell, but that will have to wait for another post.

  1. I like to read too. I just read Dear John, which was soo good. Now I need to see the movie. Now I'm reading the Undaunted. It's a good book so far too. Wish my kids would love to read, it's like pulling teeth to get them to read.

  2. I too am a reader! It usually works for us because Joseph and I will both cuddle on the couch. He'll read his textbooks and I'll read just about whatever. Love it. Joseph didn't think he really liked to read. That's only because he only had time for textbooks, but I got him to read one for fun during the summer and he whipped through it no time and actually enjoyed it. Hopefully our kids will catch that reading fever as well. There's nothing like a good book!

  3. I have heard great things about that book series. I think I'm going to try them out. I'm such a book worm too. I usually have to take a few days to detox myself from whatever book I was reading. I get so emotionally involved, it's hard to remember its only fiction most of the time.
