It is that time of year again that we are either at soccer practices or games. Luckily, this year Cody and Brooke are on the same team. I didn't know that they even had co-ed teams for the older kids. The main rule is that the boys have to be 5 feet away from the girl at all times, unless they are in the goalie box. It was so funny to see Brooke at their first game run up to 2 boys who had the ball from the opposite team and as soon as she was at the ball, they backed up. Another girl had to come from the opposite team to get it away from her. It is really entertaining to watch, yet frustrating at the same time! Cody and Brooke are having fun tho. I am shocked that Cody didn't try out for the soccer team in high school. The kid is super fast! Both Lonney and I were shocked at their first game when he was running. Lonney has tried to talk him into doing track in high school, but he says no way! (Lon was in track in high school, so there goes his fathers dream of having his son follow in his footsteps) Brooke is planning on trying out for the girls soccer team this year. Carli is loving soccer this year too! Plus she always wants to be in the game as a forward. She hates that her coach puts her as goalie at times. She loves to be a forward so she is in control of the ball. And she isn't at all scared to run up on the girls to get the ball away from them.

(Above) Cody dying to get the ball away from her but is suppose to hold back for his girl team mate to get the ball away from this girl. It doesn't stop him from trying to break that rule.

(Above) Cody ran from half way across the field to get to this ball. Like I said, the kid is fast! The boy that is in the picture was amazing with his ball handling, it was really entertaining to watch him maneuver it around.

(Above) Cody loving the game! Just look at the smile on his face...priceless!

(Above) Brooke taking a moment to smile for the camera! Oh man, was she ever mad at me for signing her up to play this year. When she found out that it was co-ed, she was even more mad. But, when I told her that if she falls down, there will be lots of boys wanting to help her up, she became excited and couldn't stop smiling.

(Above) Brooke is getting ready to throw in the ball from the sidelines. She has so much fun playing soccer.

(Above) Carli playing her least favorite position in soccer. Yet, she does such a great job!

(Above) Carli being pushy as she goes after the ball. She doesn't have a problem making sure the opposite team knows that she is serious about the game. Usually towards the end of the game you can see the anger on her face too. It's quite comical.

(Above) Carli loves being a forward and is not at all shy about stealing the ball away from the opposite team.

(Above) Carli was way done running after being in the game for the first 3 quarters! She told the coach "Please, don't put me in again... I need to rest!" He just laughed and said he wouldn't.
I just love that my kids are involved in sports! I have enjoyed the journey from watching all my kids play soccer, basketball, and baseball as soon as they were in Kindergarten to this point in their lives. It will be fun to watch them play as a school team, since they have only played through the City of Henderson recreation center, well except for the boys. They have played football, basketball, and golf on the high school level. Still, fun times...I just love my life!
Your kids are all so well rounded. Seriously, they're athletic, they excel academically, they play musical instruments. You must be so proud. They are a credit to you and Lonny too though, you have given them so many opportunities to do whatever they want in life. I can't wait till Gavin starts Soccer, it's awesome to see kids go so far in sports. You got some great shots of your kids.

I love that picture of Brooke. And could you pass along some of your kids' athletic prowess to me? :)
ReplyDeleteI think Carli needs to come teach Noah some aggression in Soccer. He loves to run up and down the field, but never goes after that ball! How fun that Cody and Brooke get to play together!
ReplyDeleteI just realized that I am still signed in under freezer meals, it is Lindsey incase you didn't figure it out!
BTW, How is everyone around there feeling?
We too have been busy with the soccer season over here! This is Saydi's 4th year playing and Heidi's 1st. I love watching Saydi's games and watching the past 3 years finally come all together for her. :)
