Brooke did it!

This past weekend was the last weekend of Brooke's deer hunt. So her dad and Grandpa Robbins headed to Northern Nevada. They met up with Uncle Joe, Quinton, and Zach in Panaca at Uncle Scott and Aunt Finis' house. When Quinton killed his buck, they decided to stick around and help Brooke with her hunt. Finally, on Saturday morning with everyone piled into Joe's truck they found the buck that Joe and Grandpa had spotted earlier that morning. Lonney and Brooke hopped out of the truck and got ready to shoot the deer that was laying down looking right at them 80 to 100 yards away. With Joe videoing, Brooke rested the rifle across the hood of the truck and asked Lonney, "Where do I shoot?" He told her to aim for the neck. She asked, "Can I shoot now?" and Lonney said, "Anytime." He said that she wasn't nervous at all, she just aimed and shot the rifle with the bullet going right through the throat to the heart. Zach jumped out of the truck yelling, "You smoked him, Brooke!" Her first kill ended up being a 5 by 6 point Stag. I had always thought that a Stag was another name for a male deer. Thanks to our friend, AC Clark we were educated on what a Stag really is. Hmmm, never would have guessed that one in a million years... If by chance you don't know what a stag is, please google it because this is a "G" rated blog!

Brooke said she was more comfortable getting her picture taken with just the head then with the whole body attached.

A very proud dad with his girly girl who has become a deer hunter. She actually brought her make-up and high heels with her so she could slip them on for the picture but dad botched that idea quickly. She was bound and determined to get a bigger deer then her dad and brothers and do it in high heels!

There are 1 out of 15,000 to 20,000 bucks that are actual Stags. And if you haven't guessed it by now, this will be hanging on a wall in our house. I still vote building a cabin on our property so they can hang their dead things there!
