We are NOT talkin about a baby's rattle here... We are talking about a rattle snake that Cody knelt down next to while playing paintball with his friends and dad. They went up to the desert above our house and found a course that some kids had made into a play area for paintballing. One of the places that Cody decided to hide behind had a lot of rocks around it. Lonney said that he watched as Cody bent down to take shelter and all of a sudden he was on his feet jumping backwards firing his gun. I guess he sort of yelled too, cuz Lonney came over to see that the snake had gone down a hole. He had to rip up the hole to get to the snake where they ended up killing it so that it didn't strike someone's kid. Cody is sooo very lucky that the snake decided not to sink his teeth into him! They kept the rattle as a souvenir. I know all you animal/reptile lovers aren't very happy about that. But when you live out here in the desert, you do what ya can to keep your kids safe and the neighborhood kids as well.
Wait, wait...the snake took flight instead of striking someone that was clearly in his home territory? So they grabbed their torches and pitch forks and brutally ripped him out of his snakehole to mutilate him AND take a souvineer? I love sssssnakes, I'm sssssssssad.
ReplyDeleteI won't be running around in the hills any time soon! I can handle the red racers that are around my house, but I would have a heart attack to see a rattler!
